Google users targeted with fake sponsored DeepSeek ads that deliver malware

Malware Bytes is reporting that Cybercriminals are exploiting the popularity of DeepSeek by placing deceptive sponsored ads in Google SERPs. These fake and fraudulent ads, which promote “Accurate Search in Seconds” and an “Intelligent Search Engine,” direct users to malicious websites such as. Clicking the download button on these sites results in the installation of a Trojan designed in a obfuscated form of Microsoft Intermediate Language.

Malwarebytes researchers caution that Google has struggled to prevent fake ads from appearing on its platform. Cybercriminals are willing to pay to have their malicious ads outrank legitimate brands in search results. To protect yourself, avoid clicking on ads or sponsored search results.
