Gemini Can Now Recall Past Conversations

Google has introduced a new memory feature for its Gemini AI chatbot, allowing it to reference past conversations for more relevant and tailored responses. With this update, Gemini can recall previous chats to provide continuity in discussions, whether users are asking follow-up questions or requesting summaries of earlier interactions. This enhancement eliminates the need to restart conversations from scratch, making Gemini more intuitive and context-aware. Additionally, users can build on previous projects without having to reintroduce information manually.

A key aspect of this update is user control over stored chat history. Gemini users can review, delete, or adjust the duration of stored conversations, ensuring privacy and customization. There is also an option to turn off chat memory entirely through the Gemini Apps Activity settings in My Activity. When Gemini references past interactions, it may indicate its use of prior chats as sources in responses, providing transparency about how information is being utilized.

The recall feature is currently rolling out in English to Gemini Advanced subscribers who are part of the Google One AI Premium Plan. It is available on both the web and mobile versions of Gemini, making it accessible across different devices. Google has also announced plans to extend this functionality to additional languages and to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers in the coming weeks, further expanding its availability.

This upgrade brings Gemini closer to competing AI models like ChatGPT, which already offer memory features. By enabling more seamless, ongoing conversations, Gemini becomes a more effective tool for both casual users and professionals. With improved recall, users no longer need to repeat themselves, making AI interactions more natural and efficient.
