Widely regarded as the most important new search engine to hit the web since Google, SearchGPT is now live within ChatGPT for paying subscribers. Here is the OpenAI announcement.
As we reported earlier in the week, some users were getting SearchGPT responses in ChatGPT – we knew something was cooking.
The new feature released today is SearchGPT baked into ChatGPT by means of a toggle button near the prompt box:
Clicking that button, turns on/off web search.
Below the AI generated response is now a Sources button. It pops open a side panel to list a more traditional looking serp list.

SearchGPT is tapping Bing’s index. So it is critical to make sure you are well indexed in Bing. We recommend using Index Now for instant indexing. The easiest way is via the Bing WordPress IndexNow plugin.
