- Google goes all in on Java Script Serps with encrypted obfuscated source. Scrapers and web services that rely on Serp scraping are going bye-bye. The long path to the Google data monopoly will be finalized. G-Wins. (edit: Just informed that one such service is using “screen scraping” to grab screen shots of Serps, and then running them through OCR in preparation for JS encrypted Serps)
- 3rd Party Cookie deprecation makes a come back. Emboldened by the Trump win, they will continue the monopolists march to profit in earnest.
- Organic results as we know them will start to get pushed to page two with 75% of all Serps being ads above the fold and 100% ads on mobile. More AI Slop, more YouTube, more Docs, more Google services, and more Google “features” will pollute the SERPs.
- Serp click rates in one year will be 60% of what they are today. They are smoking their own dope in Cali and I believe that they believe the web is theirs to own and control. They will continue to eat more SERP link real estate.
- Global SEO is the new Local SEO. The grass is always greener on the other side of the pond(s). Many SEO’s have found prospecting in other parts of the world to be highly rewarding while Euro and state side SERP click rates continue to crash.
- Wishy Washy : SEO’s will finally put voice optimization front-n-center in meaningful ways. As we move from query based search to prompted conversational search (including assistant or ai agent initiated search), voice optimization will finally get its moment.
- OpenAI will put out a browser that will bake-in search. I’ve thought for years that search is a function of the browser – not a destination website. All the instant answer, navigational, stuff could be done better and faster in a browser based experience. That would completely eliminate the need for a search engine website. I believe Altman has this vision for the future because it meshes perfectly with a generalized AI. We don’t need another Co-Pilot service – we need a Co-Pilot browser.
